Choose a case study situation to illustrate how you would approach a person(s)’ care from the perspective of human science based nursing approaches. How would you learn about the person’s needs? What would you have to consider within the person’s social and physical environment? How would you advocate without being paternalistic to make it possible to meet the needs of the person? Please, also refer back to readings from the Theoretical and Philosophical Nursing Foundations course (5100) as appropriate.

Synthesize and formulate strategies based in a human science perspective that have potential for changing the health system and particularly nursing care. Factors promoting or impeding implementation of human science based nursing praxis, its potential for achieving the desired results, and current evaluation processes are critically discussed. Choose a case study situation (you could build on one identified in exercise 2) to illustrate how you would approach persons’ care from the perspective of a chosen human science based nursing theory or paradigm. How would you learn about the person’s needs? How would you advocate without being paternalistic to make it possible to meet these needs?
