Arya an estate agent is selling her mansion in Hampstead. On Monday she places an
advertisement in the local estates newspaper: “Luxury 5 bedroom mansion for sale
£3,500.000. Those interested please call 0224 345678 or e-mail
luxury.homes@biworld.co.uk.”
The following day Brienna calls the number in the advertisement and after discussing
the condition of the property, says: “thank you for the information, I am willing to pay
£3,000.000 cash buy, no mortgage. Shall we proceed?” Arya replies: “£3,200.000 and
I will also leave the antique sofa set in the lounge.” Brienna asks for a couple of days
to think about it.
Catelyn sees the advert on Wednesday and walks into Arya’s office stating her
willingness to purchase the mansion for the amount requested. Arya has a meeting
with clients so asks Catelyn to leave her fax number and an e-mail address for Arya to
contact her on. That evening she sends Catelyn a fax agreeing to proceed with the
sale. Unfortunately, Catelyn forgot to load her fax machine with paper so the message
doesn’t get through.
Dean e-mails Arya on Thursday agreeing to buy the mansion for £3,500.000. Arya
reads the e-mail but then a problem with her Internet connection occurs so she cannot
reply. Having not heard back from Catelyn and considering the circumstances, Arya
takes it upon herself and posts her letter of agreement. After the letter is posted,
workers at the Post Office go on strike and the letter gets stuck in the post for 7 days.
Three days after posting the letter, Arya bumps into Ella the manager of a rival estate
agent’s down the road. Ella boasts about closing a deal to sell Dean another mansion
in the area. Arya contacts Dean asking him to honour his agreement to buy her
mansion. But Dean replies “Sorry, I didn’t hear back from you so thought you were
not interested, its not my fault!”
