In this module, we visit the second software application for the course, which is presentation software in the form of PowerPoint! PowerPoint is a software application used to present information in a variety of settings. For example, sales people use it to show a product. Financial organizations may embed a chart and or Excel spreadsheet to show profits, revenue, and loss.
Here are some basic concepts to keep in mind when developing a PowerPoint presentation:
- Although it’s fun, try not to use too many audio-visual effects (it distracts the audience)
- Make the presentation fit your audience (Crayola style for a Day Care, but professional appearance for Bankers)
- Use the 7 x 7 rule (no more than 7 lines/sentences per slide, with no more than 7 words in each line). What I typed for the rule and the fact I’m now on my 2nd line, means I broke the rule.
- You want enough information to highlight your points, but not read slides to your audience (it shows the audience you know the topic/subject matter)
