Assessment 2: Individual Assignment

You are to submit a written report based on a company of your choice from any country and any industry. Identify THREE OB issues as covered in class and discuss the impact of these issues to the chosen organisation on overall organisational performance.

Provide TWO recommendations each on how the organisation can create a competitive advantage based on THREE OB issues.

The report should consist of the following main sections:

 

Introduction (company background)

Briefly write about the company. This would include the company’s:

• Vision
• Mission
• Nature of Business
• General business Operating Environment – Numbers of Department, Size of Organization, Organizational Structure / Organizational Chart and the Organizational

(Organisational climate is defined as a general expression of what the organisation is. It is the summary perception which people have about the organisation.   It    conveys    the    impressions    people    have    of the organisational internal environment within which they work.

 

Definition and Explanation of the three OB issues

Choose any 3 topics starting from Topic 2 to Topic 12 listed in the table of contents found on page (iii) of the study guide.

For each of the topics selected, students are required to:

• Describe a relevant model (eg: Motivation – Maslow Hierarchy of Needs)
• Explain how the model works
• Suggest 2 reasons why the particular model was chosen and its relevance to the work place

 

Discussion of the Impact of the three OB issues on Organisation Performance

• Describe 1 positive Support the impact with relevant evidence
• Describe 1 negative Support the impact with relevant evidence

 

Recommendations

• Students are to provide 2 solutions that might solve the issue the organization is (Just state and no need for explanation)
• Out of the 2 listed above, choose 1 and describe in greater detail the impact on organizational behavior and profitability and

 

Conclusion

Students are to reflect on the experience of writing the assignment and to include in the conclusion the following:

• Which model of OB did they most resonate with and why?
