POLICY AND PLANNING REPORT
Case study country Report
This will build upon the earlier presentations.
Students must prepare a report entitled ‘A critique of tourism policy and planning in ……(insert country name)’. (2500 words) The report will use as a case study the country used in the formative presentation from term one. The report must focus more explicitly upon a critical appraisal of the policy.
Try to imagine that your report is to be presented to a team of experts who are compiling a global report on tourism policy trends and effectiveness.
Assessment will take into account proper use of the report format.
Students are expected to show an in depth critical awareness of the issues around policy and planning in their specific case study and to be able to relate their case study to the wider debates about tourism policy and planning.
Your report should cover the same topics and issues as your presentation but should look to expand the critique, to make recommendations and to act on the feedback from the presentation i.e to improve on the presentation. The central question your report should address is:-
‘Do the plans and policies set up in your case study country effectively address the issues and problems faced by that countries tourism
