Introduction

The ability to gain professional qualifications is critical in the success of any professional engineer, in the current work environment. The aim of this assignment is to align personal characteristics and strengths with a carefully considered career option.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the assignment, the student should be able to:-

Carry out appropriate research for future planning of career path within a chosen engineering discipline.

The Brief

 Develop an individual portfolio which reviews your career plan / options based on your current perspective with regard to self and potential growth and development.:-

Evidence of self-study tools and techniques associated with raising self-awareness and self-study, a minimum of 10 examples in the appendices and a brief evaluation from this feedback to help identify personal strengths, preferences, attributes, characteristics, skills, knowledge.  (20% of marks)

• Further research into CPD and associated topics taught in class, such as NLP, Emotional Intelligence, Critical Thinking, Coaching or Positive Psychology.  Choose 1 and explain what it is, how it works and discuss how this can be applied personally.   (40% of marks)
• Identify potential career options, roles and job descriptions / opportunities.  Carry out a gap analysis based on your current employability skill level and the requirement from your ideal post.  Develop an action plan to further develop specific areas of employability skills.  (20% of marks)
• Evidence of engagement with the Careers and Employment services (10% of marks)
• Presentation, logical flow, structure and authenticity of the report (10% of marks)
