The aim of Task 2 is to enable a professional manager and leader to critically appraise the human and cultural dimensions of knowledge management and evaluate its impact on organisational learning.

DEVELOPING A STRATEGY TO DRIVE KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT IN AN

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

The aim of Task 3 is to enable professional managers and leaders to evidence their knowledge of how to develop a strategy to drive knowledge management in an organisational context. This will include the tools, techniques and technologies which support the way knowledge is managed.

SCENARIO

You work for a large organisation leading and managing one of the functional areas listed below. One of the organisation’s strategic objectives for the coming year is to focus on the way knowledge is managed across the organisation. The organisation has the following functional areas:

  • Marketing/promotions

  • Sales
  • Accounting and finance
  • Distribution
  • Research and development
  • Administrative/management

You have been asked to lead a pilot programme for this initiative by developing a strategy to drive knowledge management for your functional area. For the purpose of this scenario you may base your response on an organisation you know well or have researched.

TASK 3

Basing your response on the scenario given above or an organisation you know well or have researched you are required to:

‘Develop a strategy to drive knowledge management in an organisational context’.

This task has TWO (2) sections:
