You are required to prepare, record and submit a presentation of 15-20 minutes that:

It is appropriately structured, includes a clear line of argument, demonstrates an appropriate use of scholarly literature, synthesises contemporary knowledge, and demonstrates critical analysis and evaluation. Suggested Structure

Please read the following for a structure for your presentation and information on what should be included on your PowerPoint slides:

Introduction of the topic area.

Introduction of the target journal.

Aims and questions addressed by the paper.

Description of the theoretical or conceptual grounding of the paper within the scholarly and professional literature.

Explanation of the method/procedure used in the preparation of your paper.

Description of the main features of each of the sections of the prototype paper and the line of argument that will be developed.

Discussion of the contribution to theory and the contribution to practice that the paper will make.

Tips and suggestions

You should return to your notes and challenge activities from this module to refresh your learning about publication and dissemination.

When you record your presentation, make sure that you avoid the temptation to ‘just’ read out your slides. You should aim to provide additional detail and comments to supplement the content of your slides.

Assignment Brief

A successful assignment will include the following components:

As you prepare your prototype paper, remember that:

A journal paper is not a business report or an essay.

You will be more successful if you are clear about the focus of your paper and stick to it.

You achieve a balance of description (communicating the ‘what’ of the situation, concept, method, issue) and analysis (breaking down and clarifying the component parts of a situation, concept, method issue, etc. and the relationship between them).
